The Desert Shoot-Out 2nd Chance Held At Metro Sportz Bar On April 26th-27th |
**************So What Happened???************** First and Foremost: We would like to thank Doug and Jimmy-Jo and all of the employees from Kolby's who saved The Desert Shoot-Out and made it possible for us to put on what I would call, hands down, "the tournament of champions." If you look at the field that this tournament held, you would have been amazed that anybody missed this tournament, whether your a player or a spectator. Although this was only a field of 64, this was the toughest field I have ever seen. So at this tournament, I had absolutely no feel for who to put the money on to win this tourney. Who do you pick? Johnny? Efren? Parica? Jones? Immonen? Deuel? Morris? Owens? Dominguez? Strickland? I mean, this is just a short list of "some" of the champs who played in this event. So The Big Dog of this tournament of champions was none other than the great Johnny Archer with Mika Immonen finishing a strong 2nd place. Mika played phenominal and made a great come back on Robbie Saez to get to the hot-seat match and then won the hot-seat match. Johnny made a great comeback on the one-loss side and beat Mika in a two set final. Congratulations Johnny and Mika for your great playing and for qualifying for the World Championships. We would like to thank all the players and spectators and everyone else who participated in this phenominal tournament, The Desert Shoot-Out. We hope to be able to host many more tourneys in the future to bring together again the great talent that came to Kolby's Corner Pocket to show off their hard work and talent. *********And About The Desert Shoot-Out 2nd Chance********* The Desert Shoot-Out 2nd Chance held at Metro Sportz Bar had a successful tourney with a field of 28 players ranging from the professionals to the locals. Dennis Hatch had many people wondering "how in the world did he lose in the Desert Shoot-Out?" Just that right there tells you exactly how strong the field was at The Desert Shoot-Out. Dennis and Mitch Ellerman both just flew threw the tournament showing exactly how strong they both can play. In the finals, with Dennis in the hot-seat, Mitch put up a great fight and a great set. The match came down to the wire and finished with a match score of 9 to 7 with Dennis going through the tourney with no losses. Mitch, one of our local favorites finished 2nd and Marc Vidal finished 3rd. Marc had to make a phenominal come back on another one of our local favorites, Ben Herbina, to get to play Mitch for 2nd - 3rd place. Congratulations everyone on a great finish. Again, we would like to thank everyone for participating in this great event and look forward to seeing everyone again. Need to Become a Member of the UPA or Have Questions? Please Visit: |
